The Board Chairman of the Board of ADB Bank and Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II has resigned.

A press release posted on the website of the Ghana Stock Exchange read, “ADB announces for the information of the general investing public, the resignation of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, an Independent Non-Executive Director, of the Bank. His resignation took effect on October 11, 2024. ”

This follows a directive from the Bank of Ghana for him to do so.

The Bank of Ghana referred to a recent petition to the Presidency by a Ghanaian named Collins Darkwah Aboagye alleging improper conduct on the part of the Board Chair. the petitioner had alleged a case of misconduct involving a 2-million-cedi transaction, which was said to be fraught with potential conflicts of interest, financial mismanagement and other actions that may have compromised the duties expected of a person in such a high-ranking position.

The Bank of Ghana in a statement noted that Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong’s continued holding of office as a Director of the ADB has become untenable due to the irreparable damage the events have caused to the image of the bank. He was therefore asked to immediately resign from his position as a director of the ADB and appropriately handover.
