What John Mahama said about Dr Kwame Nkrumah

Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has described Ghana’s first president as a visionary leader.

He believes that the current government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should never compare their leader to Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

John Dramani Mahama describes the current government as a propagandist government that is only good at sloganeering while taking no action on the job to be done.

“All they know is propaganda. They say they have fulfilled all their promises and they are the best government since Independence. This useless government is comparing itself to Kwame Nkrumah. If we close the Akosombo dam today will we have electricity? If we close the Tema Motorway can people travel in this country? If not for Nkrumah who built the Tema Habour will we have been able to import goods into the country? You dare not compare yourself to Nkrumah, don’t try,” he said.

Even though the former President made this known in one of his mini rallies during his campaign for President in 2020, the video surfaced after Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh described Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s best president.

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh said “I am saying that from 1957 to now, whether you pick ‘your’ Kwame Nkrumah… there is nobody who has led Ghana and protected the country or developed Ghana more than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he said.
