After Biden chastises his wife for her work on Israel Warrants, George Clooney calls the White House.

Longtime Democratic candidate backer George Clooney called the White House last month in protest over President Joe Biden's rejection of the International Criminal Court's request for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant. Prosecutors also attempted to have senior Hamas officials arrested.

In order to examine evidence of possible war crimes and crimes against humanity in Israel and Gaza, Clooney's wife Amal, an international human rights attorney, collaborated with ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan and a group of international legal experts. Amal and her colleagues evaluated the petitions for arrest warrants and, after publishing a legal report, agreed with the prosecutor that the warrants were founded on reasonable suspicion.

The Washington Post, which broke the story first, claims that Clooney discussed Biden's use of the term "outrageous" while criticizing the ICC prosecutor's application with President Steve Ricchetti, the president's counselor. Clooney reportedly expressed disapproval of the Biden Administration's preliminary plans to impose penalties on the ICC, which may have included Amal.

In a statement, Biden stated, "The ICC prosecutor's application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous." And let me be very clear: whatever what this prosecutor may suggest, there is absolutely no comparison between Hamas and Israel. When Israel faces threats to its security, we will always support it.

Legislation that will penalize the International Criminal Court was approved by the House on Tuesday. The president's administration declared that it "strongly opposes" the bill despite Biden's harsh criticism of the ICC's request for arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials. This is because the bill "could require sanctions against court staff, judges, witnesses, and U.S. allies and partners who provide even limited, targeted support to the court in a range of aspects of its work."

The panel, which included Amal, stated the following in an opinion piece published by the ICC: "No conflict should be exempt from the application of the law; no child's life should be valued less than another's." Humanity's law, not the law of any particular side, is the one we follow. All citizens involved in current conflicts as well as those to come must be protected.

They went on, "And we hope that state officials, witnesses, and survivors will engage with the judicial process as investigations continue. In the end, we hope that this process will help bring about more protections for civilians and long-lasting peace in an area that has already seen far too much hardship.
